About

The Foster Diversity in Business club (DiBs) is a space to embrace the range and depth of individuals in the Foster MBA program. We host events and workshops to celebrate traditional and non-traditional diversity identifiers (gender, race, nationality, ability, faith, etc) and encourage diversity of thought, perspective, and idea. We encourage everyone to join and are excited to learn from and about what makes you, you!

Leadership
AUSTIN MONTGOMERY CO-PRESIDENT Why diversity? The world is filled with people of different backgrounds and experiences, and many times these backgrounds and experiences are looked upon as disadvantages rather than attributes. An emphasis on diversity can help to breakdown barriers and provide opportunities to the under-represented while creating better products and solutions. Favorite childhood show? In Living Color. Previous Industry: After getting serving in the US Navy, I worked in facilities and utilities design and management. Post-MBA Interest: I'd like to get into supply chain operations. Fun fact: While on deployment I got to jump out of an aircraft carrier and swim in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

Culture does not exist without diversity and if I could improve and see in my lifetime, equal representation that celebrates excellence from all corners of America - however hidden or overlooked - I’ll know I did my part. ALEX CARTER BOARDMEMBER Why diversity? With the advances in technology, the world has become a much smaller place. Today's nature of work and social understanding has put us face-to-face with different cultures and norms and I'm of the belief the building bridges across those differences is the ONLY way to move forward. Clubs like this provide a blueprint and a foundation, from which we can build those bridges when we leave Foster. Favorite childhood show? The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Previous Industry: I previously worked in business development, mainly in telecommunications. Post-MBA Interest: I'd like to explore technological marketing or consulting. Fun fact: I've lived in seven different cities across the United States, and have traveled to 6/7 continents in my life.

DAN OCHOA BOARDMEMBER Why Diversity? Business is about problem-solving. Diversity of thought enables organizations to achieve richer and more meaningful solutions. Favorite Childhood Show? Rocket Power, but if you go way back the Rugrats. Previous Industry: Prior to joining Foster I was with Starbucks as part of their financial reporting department. Post-MBA Interest: Post-MBA aspirations are to transition into a more finance-centric role with a global tech leader. Fun Fact: Cooking is one of my biggest passions. Recently, I’ve taken up bread baking, which is both relaxing due to its simplicity and inspiring due to the transformation that takes place when converting flour, water and salt into bread.
