About

Welcome to the Leadership and Management Society (a.k.a. the “Human Capitalists”)! We are a student-led club whose mission is to prepare Foster MBA students with the human capital knowledge and people-management skills they will need to thrive in their immediate post-MBA careers.

While the MBA core curriculum covers leadership and organizational behavior at a high level, we aim to deliver programming that is more tactical than theoretical, building on core management coursework with practical skills. Additionally, for students who are interested in exploring careers in human capital, we organize student-led HR and human capital treks.

ANDREW PEPPLER Andrew commissioned as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army out of the ROTC program at the University of Florida in 2006 where he studied Anthropology. Over the next ten years, he served in various roles, progressing from a platoon leader to a company commander, and deployed three times to Afghanistan. In 2014, he left active duty and found a program management role in Amazon’s Corporate Security & Business Continuity department in Seattle, directing their strategic planning and budgeting processes for two years. In 2016, Andrew returned to school at the University of Washington to pursue a dual Master’s of Public and Business Administration. Andrew joined the board of LMS because he believes the group has a real opportunity to help Foster MBAs burnish critical skills prior to assuming leadership roles in the workforce. He enjoys staying active through soccer, ultimate frisbee, and running, and getting into the outdoors in the Pacific NW—hiking, camping, and skiing (poorly). He also has an 8-year-old Australian Cattle Dog (Rusty) who joins him for many of these adventures.
